Close on the celebration of Batik Festival here in Indonesia, Children’s Day was celebrated with gaiety and fervour at Singapore School, Medan (SIS) on Thursday 8 October 2009. It was a fun-filled day for the students. The teachers and the PSG (Parent Support Group) made the day special, as they had a lot of fun-filled activities and games lined for them. All items were organized and performed by the teachers except for the last performance perform by the orphans from Sunshine Medical Center.
The day began with the warm opening remarks by the school principal Ms. Jee, she also led the releasing of balloons with a tag on it (each class released balloon as well). A big banner rolled down from the 3rd floor to the ground floor saying “Happy Children’s Day” creatively done by the teacher aides. Teachers prepared small banner for their own class as well. Informative and entertaining “show” by the teachers was followed. Special games was held at the school ground, different levels have different games like,( sack race, hit the pot, and more, “Pabitin” and hit the pot was the most highlighted games and all levels participated which the students enjoyed most. Pre primary played a special role as they had their special booth (face painting) and a booth where you can buy a card worth Rp. 5000 proceeds will be donated to the victims of Padang Earthquake in Padang Indonesia. Primary 4- JC classes adopted Orphans from (Sunshine Medical Center ) an orphanage located need the school and shared some special moments with them and food as well.
SIS, Medan celebrated Children’s Day with great pomp and show. The uniqueness of the programme was that the students were the chief guests while the orphans’ is our guest of honours. The Prefects headed by Frenado (head prefect) extend help too by assisting the teachers. The teachers presented a colourful and magnificent presentation for the children. The guests’ of honours (orphans) had fun and received presents from SIS students.
